CUBS: Meet at the Morrinsville Scout Den (Moorhouse St) Tuesdays 6.00pm-7.30pm
This is for boys and girls in years 3-6. There are plenty of indoor and outdoor adventures to go on – such as camping, outdoor cooking, bushwalking, explorations and other challenges. CUBS have their own award scheme to work through and personal challenge badges to obtain.
SCOUTS: Meet at the Morrinsville Scout Den (Moorhouse St) Mondays 7.00pm-8.30pm
This is for boys and girls in years 6-10. Action-packed activities form the core part of being a SCOUT, encouraging young people to make their own decisions and to explore the world around them. SCOUTS work towards their Bronze, Silver and Gold Scout awards with the ultimate achievement being a CHIEF SCOUT. They also have the opportunity to attend ‘National Schools’ in topics such as aviation, canoeing, photography and caving and attend PioPio Adventure Camp.
VENTURERS: Meet on Sundays 7pm – usually at the Morrinsville Scout Den but that depends on the programme
This is for young people in Years 10-13. They form their own programme with an emphasis being the same theme as the programmes for KEAS, CUBS and SCOUTS. The programme develops their self-confidence through leadership courses and modules about community awareness to prepare them for their next stage of life as they prepare for life after school. A progressive award scheme culminates with the achievement of the prestigious QUEEN SCOUT AWARD. This is SCOUTS New Zealand’s highest youth award and is presented by the Governor-General. The Morrinsville Venturer Unit also offers The Duke of Edinburgh’s Hillary Award – an achievement that is recognised worldwide.
LEADERS:
Joining our team of leaders is an effective and rewarding way of contributing to the local community and creating opportunities for our young people that they might not always have. Leaders also learn and challenge themselves through the valuable training programme. This quality learning environment allows LEADERS to then transfer those skills to their section and into their own workplace.
We are looking to recruit more leaders as our sections are increasing in numbers.
